Darn, I can't re-use the thread we've had since 2015.  It has the same title, but it would be too confusing to have two threads bumped with this thread title.

But you know me, I like re-using threads or bumping them.

http://clippertalk.com/topic/fantasy-baseball?page=1

I renewed the league.  Everyone should be auto-renewed.  Since 2017, Yahoo changed it so returning managers are auto-renewed.

Draft is set for Mon Mar 26 8:00pm PDT.  Let me know ASAP if you want it changed, so we don't have to change it during the final week, or final days.

There was a suggestion last year to weigh SPs a little more.

I played around with the settings.  Unfortunately, I can't select more than 15 position player categories, and 15 pitching categories.

Here's the changes I made:

Offensive / Fielding:

* Removed Stolen Base %

* Added Sacrifice Flies.

(I really wanted to add double plays turned, as I think it's cool to track some of the fielding plays that happen, but couldn't think of what existing category to remove.  I had also wanted to add Sacrifice Hits, but couldn't do that without removing an existing category too.)

Pitching:

* Removed Wild Pitches, Relief Appearances

* Added Outs, Inherited Runners Scored

I did kind of like having both Wild Pitches and Hit By Batters, because I like getting mad at my players when they lose control of their pitches.  But ultimately, Inherited Runners Scored is a more useful stat of a player's performance than a wild pitch.

And Outs should swing it back a little toward SPs.  Or at least, if 2 managers have the same ERA and WHIP, it will reward the manager who had more outs recorded.

@V-Ice:  I've disliked every Roto League I've played.  After 8 weeks into the season (whether it is NBA or MLB), the standings are 94% set, and there's very little movement afterwards.  It rewards the first half of the season.  Any good trades or pickups later in the year barely make an impact because there there have already been thousands of ABs or several hundred innings pitched.

H2H puts more excitement in the end of the regular season, and the games players have then.  I also always schedule the fantasy playoffs to start as early as possible to avoid late-season rest days as much as possible.

Trapp76 said a long time ago that Roto might be more fair, but H2H is more fun.  I agree with that.

If you really like Roto, I suggest starting another league.

If the majority want Roto, I'll transfer the commish powers to you @V-Ice and drop out of the league.

Sacrifice flies? Why?

I just thought it was something that happened during the game, that had a positive impact on the team, but never really tracked.

If too many people don't like it, I could change it back to Stolen Base percentage, or maybe try Double Plays Turned.

Actually, I didn't learn until last year that it's not a sac fly if a runner doesn't score.  I thought moving the runner from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd by hitting it into the outfiled would also have counted as a sac fly.  But apparently it didn't.

That got me thinking of some of those deeper plays that happen in the game that have a positive impact, but aren't paid attention to as much.

Again, if several people don't like it, or want me to switch it back to stolen base %, or want to try double plays turned, I could change it.

I might be down. I never played fantasy baseball, though and other than big names, I don't know shit about baseball players.

Sacrifice flies is an odd one. Stolen bases is fun.

Instead of sac flies, GIDP for htters or double plays turned for fielders would be good, would give middle infielders a little more value relative to high PO, low error 1B/OF types. Outs in for Relief appearance is good. Not really sure about inherited runners, its ok I guess. Not sure whether HBP or WP is better, which is there usually more of? Would be nice to combine them into one. Or maybe keep both and drop pickoffs because they are so rare.

We still have stolen bases.

I changed stolen base PERCENTAGE to sac flies.

I like this.

I'll do double plays turned.  I was considering that anyways.

Pick-offs, complete games, and shutouts are not as common.  But that's the way pitching is.  When it happens, it's a great reward.

I had James Shields one year when he had 10 or 11 CGs.  He was my favorite free agent pick up that year.

If you can find one more person, then that would be good.  We need an even number.

Right now we have 10 managers.

If you can find someone, then both of you PM me your email address and I'll send you the invite link.

We've struggled with basketball and I gave a 4 - 4.5 week notice.  We had a hard time finding someone even in NBA to get the even number.  It was either this year or last year.

I'd rather find that other person first, then send out the invites.

It looks like there's a direct link option too, try this first:

https://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/47810/invitation?key=4adf9a91ec5e7fef&soc_trk=lnk&ikey=7a85dc132bf0da82

I'm not hopeful that we'll find the missing even person.  It took 17 days to find the missing even person in NBA this year (September 18th - October 5th).  And in past years, whether with MLB or NBA, I know it's taken more than 22 days, one of the years.

I know this because I've commished a lot of leagues, so the responsibility ends up with me.

Please, if any of you know anyone, let them know.

Go ahead and join if you want.  But also try to recruit anyone you might know, to also join.

Let me know once you've joined.

I'll post a thread on the Newssurge forums.

Edit: Nevermind. Newssurge has an "Everything Else" subforum that doesn't get any foot traffic and didn't want to violate rules by posting this in the Clippers main subforum.

I believe the term is re-join, since you were with us from 2007 - 2015.

Your spirit has never left.

Use the link from post # 16.

If both of you guys join (to make 13), and we get the 14th manager, I'll increase the playoffs teams from 6 to 8.

That would be sweet. This was a serious fun league last year for me, with the Clippers melting down.

Now that we've joined, we're even.

What does your team name mean?  "DTS SBN# 31124".

@MadFlabby, you can still join if you want.  We just have to find someone in addition to you before March 26th.

Do you mind explaining the "SBN# 31124" part?

I guess the DTS has to do with Sterling.
